This magazine is for the film Cruella. The masthead of this magazine is the title of the magazine which is “film”. It uses the same font used in every other magazine they have but uses a colour scheme relating to the film. The film “Cruella” is about dalmatian dogs. The masthead is a white colour Background with black dots representing the dogs in the movie. The colour scheme of the whole magazine is black, white and red. Black and white being because of her obsession with dalmatian dogs and one of the main plot points in the movie. It is the colours she is seen wearing throughout the movie. The red in the magazine stems from her name being Cruella Devil meaning cruel devil. Devils typically have connotations of red and danger which represents her in the movie as she is antagonist. The font of “Cruella” is the same font used for the movie in the title scene and in posters to promote the movie. The We also see bold fonts on the left-hand side emphasising on the big names mentioned in the magazine. This could attract people who would recognise the names and want to read about it. We see a smaller black font being used which is a quote being said by the actress playing the role off Cruella. We also see slight hints of green font being used throughout the cover. This could suggest her being jealous which is linked to Othello by Shakespeare when it is said by Iago (who is also the antagonist) “beware the green-eyed monster for it doth nock the meat it feeds on”. The main image of the front cover is Cruella herself who the movie is about. It is a head and shoulder image with her striking black and white hair on show. We also see supporting images of another character in another movie, Harley Quinn from suicide squad. This is led with a cover line “Bad Gals! Celebrating cinemas most iconic queens”. The main cover line in this cover is “Emma Stone re-frame the narrative on an iconic villain”. This indicates that this is a magazine cover for a remake of another movie. The original movie being 101 Dalmatians and this movie is an about the villain Cruella Devil. The selling line of the magazine is “The smarter movie magazine”. This is to attract an audience to read their film magazine and not any other. The primary target audience is people who like films and want to see what film are new. A secondary target audience would be someone who likes Disney and wants to watch the re-framed narrative from a classic tale.
